Beyond Digital Initiative | Leadership Network Blog
One of the new projects I am involved in at Leadership Network is called the Beyond Digital Initiative. Its an exciting opportunity to engage church leaders, Kingdom-minded organizations, and tech talent from around the country to collaborate on new tools and models for impacting the world using technology. The Church has long been ‘behind the curve’ when it comes to technology adoption and use. We’re planning to play a little catch up over the next couple of years.
The Beyond Digital Initiative will be made up of two primary components:
The Beyond Digital Leadership Community: A 2-year, peer-centered group of 10-12 innovative churches who have made a significant investment in digital tools and strategies and have a desire to keep digital a large part of their overall strategy. Throughout four gatherings over the 2-year period, teams will have an opportunity to share best practices, learn from leaders across multiple domains, and develop new solutions for their churches and communities.
Code for the Kingdom Hackathon Series: Beginning this summer in San Francisco, Leadership Network will collaborate with churches, tech incubators, venture capitalists, and other organizations to host a series of hackathons in the various tech centers of the country in order to bring down the barriers of cost and access to talent so that new ideas and tools can be developed that will multiply the Kingdom impact of churches through technology. Exciting stuff! More details on this to come.
This is a fun and exciting project that I’m thrilled to be a part of. I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this initiative in the months ahead. For a more in-depth overview, read my Beyond Digital introductory post on the Leadership Network blog.
If you know of a church that is innovating in the digital space and should be a part of this Leadership Community, please let me know!
