My Advocare Health and Wellness Challenge – Day 11

My Advocare Health and Wellness Challenge – Day 11

A Max Day

Today was day one of the ‘Max’ phase.  And when I rolled into the kitchen to start the day, I was a little concerned.  Maybe more than a little.  Why?  No Spark.  (Uh oh!)  Spark has been my coffee substitute over the past 10 days.  How would things go without my morning punch?  Well, I can honestly say, “Wow!”  I have felt AMAZING all day long.  I made a huge rebound from yesterday in terms of energy and, well, everything.  I don’t know what all is in the max nutrition packs, but its all good.

We will be friends.

Now, I learned quickly that the Max Phase takes a bit more organization.  Advocare does a good job of putting everything together in order to make it simple.  But you must be prepared.  There are a couple of “before breakfast” and “before lunch” packs that must be taken 30 minutes before each meal.  Forget that, and you might just be having lunch at 1:15 PM, hypothetically speaking (NOT a fan!).  So, I now have an alarm on my phone that reminds me to take my pre-lunch pack every day.

To be honest, I was a bit concerned about lasting two more weeks.  But if I feel this great every day, I don’t thin it will be a problem.  Who knows, I might just make a certain instructor’s cycling class in the morning.

Bring on the extra energy!

Just a Little Patience

Tonight was karate night for me and my son at Lake Arlington Karate Academy.  I really think this is going to be a great activity for us, and it will certainly promote a healthy lifestyle.  This was only our third time, so we are in with all the other newbies, which includes a good number of very young kids.  I was impressed with the instructors’ patience with these children.  They took the time to go around to each student and ensure proper form for each of the  stances, blocks and kicks.  That meant that some of us had to hold the same stance for quite some time, and we didn’t progress very far tonight.  It required patience from us as well.

It just so happens that ‘patience’ is the Fruit of the Spirit I’ve chosen to work on this month (I know, you should never pray for patience).  A little introspection revealed a growing lack of patience in my life.  So, I have taken it on as an opportunity for self-improvement.  So many things I’m involved in right now require patience: karate, lifestyle changes, parenting, and more.  Why not become a more patient person?

How is your patience?  Do you need more of it?  What do you do to become a more patient person?
