Rapid Growth Churches Leadership Community Begins
This afternoon we kicked off the second gathering of the third Rapid Growth Churches Leadership Community at Leadership Network. This group began six months ago and is comprised of churches from New Mexico to Colorado to Maryland and points in between. These churches represent a range from 1000 to 8500 in average weekend worship attendance. They very greatly in traditions, styles, and ministry philosophies. But the common denominator among them all is a history of consistent, rapid growth over the past few years. To learn more about this initiative, visit the Rapid Growth Leadership Community section of the Leadership Communities page on leadnet.org.
The focus of this gathering is how to develop a culture of generosity. The practical side of this issue is that rapidly growing churches spend a lot of money. It takes funding to sustain significant growth. And with growing churches, the growth curve often greatly outpaces the giving curve. At the heart of this issue, however, is the desire to create communities of people who are living generous lifestyles. Generous people give in order to make a difference in the lives of those around them. When lives are changed for the better, God’s story gets shared.
There are other issues that these churches are wrestling with, which will be central to their plans for the next six months. But this week we’ll lean in and listen to the issues, ideas, and strategies related to creating a culture of generosity.
